The Holiday Shuffle: Planning Vacations with Joint Custody

It can be difficult to plan vacations with Joint Custody. In my experience, the Probate and Family Courts tend to be quite over-crowded a few days before Christmas with parents who are in disagreement regarding holiday parenting schedules. In the event that you do not have a court order that specifies holiday parenting time, it is important that you start the conversation as soon as possible, with the goal of reaching an agreement so that you will not be forced to race into court on December 23rd! If you plan on traveling out of state with your children for the holidays this year, be sure to review your Court Orders, as your Order(s) may include a requirement to notify the other parent in advance if you intend on traveling out of state with the children.

Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year to you all!
